General Manager - Contractor

 

Our client is a leading name in real estate development Globally.  Established over 30 years ago in Europe and present in Dubai for 20 years, They are one of  the largest European real estate companies in Dubai,  with more than 1,000 employees over its diverse portfolio of businesses which include property development, construction, hospitality, property brokerage, shipbuilding and corporate business centres.
 


Job Role
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing one of the cities most iconic developments & managing the contracting division of the business. The project consists of 15 hotels, 4000 holiday villas across 4km of coastline.
 

  1. Strategic Leadership and Execution:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to ensure the successful delivery of construction projects, aligning with company objectives and client expectations.
  • Provide strategic guidance and direction to department heads and project teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Drive the development and execution of project schedules, resource allocation, and budget management strategies to optimize project efficiency and profitability.
 
  1. Project Management and Oversight:
  • Oversee the management and execution of multiple highly complex projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress and performance, identifying potential risks or obstacles and implementing effective mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to address project requirements, resolve issues, and maintain alignment with project objectives.
 
  1. Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and mentor a large and diverse team of construction professionals, including department heads, project managers, and on-site staff, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and excellence.
  • Provide guidance and support to department heads and project teams, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and coordination across departments and projects.
  • Implement robust talent development and succession planning initiatives to build a high-performing and sustainable organization.
 
  1. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Establish and enforce rigorous quality assurance processes and standards to ensure that projects meet or exceed client expectations and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and environmental standards, prioritizing safety, sustainability, and quality in all aspects of project execution.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor construction activities, identify potential defects or issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
 
 

Requirements

  • An extensive background in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 30 years of progressive experience in contracting and construction working at a main contractor with a focus on complex projects that would of included luxury hotels and high-end villa residencies. Island and Marine projects is not essential but would be preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple highly complex projects, each involving a team of 50+ staff and 2000+ workers.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and industry best practices, especially in the UAE
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower teams to achieve project objectives and exceed client expectations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
